“Remi is my baby. She is a beautiful palomino that I had only a few months when she came up lame. My regular vet took some x-rays, told me that she had the beginnings of ringbone and that she would need a few months rest and then he would come re-evaluate her. I gave her the needed rest, she was seen by the vet again a few months later and this time he told me that she would need to be put out to pasture and never ridden again. After his initial diagnosis, I did some reading about ringbone diagnosis and outcomes. The diagnostic process that I had read about entailed a secondary set of x-rays at the re-evaluation to determine rate of growth so that a treatment plan could be put in place. When my vet told me to put her to pasture, he had not taken this second set of x-rays. He had just made her move for him. Due to this I wanted a second opinion and a friend told me about San Luis Rey Equine Hospital. I made an appointment with Dr. Potenza and it was the best thing for Remi! Remi didn’t actually have ring bone at all. She had a navicular problem. With an infusion of Tildrin and corrective shoeing, my little girl is completely sound and – more importantly – not in pain!“
